About this event

Do you want to get out and #TrekTheTrails in a group setting? Join the River Valley Alliance and Fort Heritage Precinct on a historical interpretive walk at the Lamoureux Trail in Sturgeon County (just across the river from Fort Saskatchewan)!

The walk will be led by Marg Elliott from the Fort Heritage Precinct who will provide some awesome historical interpretation focused on local history!

We'll begin at the trailhead carry-on along the route. The walk will be approximately 4 km and take around 1.5 -2 hours to complete.

Parking is available in the small parking lot at the Lamoureux trailhead and along the road next to it (Lamoureux Dr/RR 223C). As you approach, the parking lot will appear on your right and you'll see a water treatment plant on your left (see the map below for the exact location). The trailhead will also be the meeting place where you will check in, sign any waivers, and begin the walk. Please remember to dress for the weather.

Please note: The walk will be at a leisurely pace and there will be stops along the way for historical interpretation. The route is mostly flat. All abilities are welcome.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check-in with event organizers and sign the necessary waivers. We require participants to check-in in order to maintain contact tracing. The walk will begin at 1:00 pm sharp.

If you register for the event and you or your guests are unable to attend please cancel your ticket(s) to open up spots for others. Although AHS restrictions are opening up, we are maintaining a maximum capacity to ensure that everyone in attendance is comfortable.

If you are attending in a group, please consider carpooling to free up available parking for others.

Event Guidelines

1. Participants must sign up online to participate. Program capacity will be monitored, and if at capacity, will be closed.

2. As we are partnering with the Fort Heritage Precinct for this event, participants will need to sign 2 waivers - one for the RVA and one for the City of Fort Saskatchewan. Both waivers will be available to sign when you check-in at the event site. The form will not be available ahead of time for this walk. If you have attended a previous RVA trail walk you will need to sign the waiver and photo consent form again.

3. The River Valley Alliance is committed to AHS COVID-19 protocols, including physical distancing during the walk. By signing up for the walk, participants accept risks associated with social activities at this time.

4. All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

5. Dogs are welcome on this walk but must remain on-leash.

6. At the moment, we ask that participants bring a face mask to mitigate COVID-19 contamination risks during the walk. While the River Valley Alliance will do their best to ensure all members are respecting distancing guidelines, having masks handy helps to minimize risk should physical distancing not be possible or difficult to follow. Thanks for understanding!
