Where is the focus group?

We've booked a meeting room at a highly accessible public library building on the Halifax peninsula, next to a transit stop, with accessible parking. The exact room location will be provided once participants are confirmed.

Question 2

Can you provide [specific support] so I will be able to participate?

Accepted Answer

The signup form includes a prompt to let us know your accommodations. Whether you are a service dog handler, or need a sign language interpreter, or even just have allergies we need to know about when we're ordering lunch, please let us know and we'll do our best.

Question 3

Can I bring someone along?

Accepted Answer

All attendees need to be confirmed ahead of time. If you want to encourage eligible peers to attend, please send them the link to this Eventbrite page. If you need to bring a support person, please provide that information in the accommodation section of the signup form.

How are you defining disability in your eligibility criteria?

Accepted Answer

Expansively! Disability varies widely: it may be permanent or temporary, constant or episodic, congenital or acquired, visible or invisible. It is a social, cultural, and medical phenomenon in which environmental barriers hinder a person's ability to fully and effectively participate in society.

Question 5

Do I need to register with my real name and contact information?

Accepted Answer

We need enough information to issue your honorarium cheque. If the name you would prefer us to use when communicating with you is different from the one recognized by your bank or credit union, please write and let us know at least a week before the event.

Question 6

Can I just show up without signing up online?

Accepted Answer

No, there is limited space so we need all attendees to RSVP ahead of time. This will also allow us to order lunch for the entire group. (if seats fill up we'll start a waitlist in case someone has to cancel)
