Fees

Participation in the UGM covers all operational expenses for the event. Please select the registration tier that applies to you:

• Early-bird Rate: $250 CAD (taxes included). For registrations before May 1st.
• Standard Rate: $300 CAD (taxes included).
• PhD Candidate Rate: $200 CAD (taxes included, no early-bird discount applies).

Required Computer Hardware and Configuration

• A laptop computer is required. The rooms that we are using for the training do not have computers. While power outlets will be available in the rooms, there may not be enough to plug all computers; we strongly recommend charging your laptop beforehand.
• A Wi-Fi connection will be available. Access information will be provided during the training. HEC Montréal is a member of the eduroam consortium (https://www.eduroam.org/); if your school is a member, you will be able to connect via the eduroam connection.
• Microsoft Office 2019 and up.
• Supported web browsers: Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge.

There are other well established hotels located in the downtown core or in Old-Montreal easily accessible by public transport services: Hilton Garden, Hyatt Place, Sheraton Centre, Queen-Elizabeth, Chateau de l’Argoat, SpringHill Suites.

Budget lodging options:

There are also a couple of budget lodging options nearby the UGM venue: Travelodge Hotel by Wyndham Montreal Centre, Hôtel Saint-Laurent Montréal, Hôtel Zéro1, Hotel Quartier des Spectacles.

Transportation

The STM (public transport) provides bus and metro services across Montreal: https://stm.info/en

• Subway station Square-Victoria-OACI
• Bus 747 from the airport will get you directly to downtown Montreal. It runs 24/7 and costs a minimum of $12 for a 24-hour transit pass. Unlimited Weekend, 3-Day and Weekly transit passes also include access to the 747 bus at no extra charge. The bus will make a first stop at subway station Lionel-Groulx, from which you can get on the two main subway lines (see map, orange and green lines). After Lionel-Groulx the bus will also make severalstops near major hotels in the city center.

Taxi Services. There are several major taxi companies in Montreal. Pick up any at the airport taxi rank. For travel around Montreal, the following are recommended.

Parking

Be aware that HEC Montreal is located in downtown Montreal where parking is usually difficult. You can use the indoor parking lot (space is limited). Please visit https://www.coophec.com/en/web/hec/parking to find out about the parking lot opening hours and rates.

Weather

Early June in Montreal features warm, pleasant, and mild weather as the city transitions into summer, with average daytime highs around 23 degrees Celsius (74 Farenheit) to 24C (75F) and cooler evenings near 12C (53F) to 14C (57F). While generally comfortable, it is wise to prepare for rain, as there is a significant chance of shower.
