No, tours continue rain or shine. The bus is enclosed, but the walk to the lighthouse is exposed to the elements

How long do the tours last?

Each tour takes 1 hour and 15 minutes from the time you board the bus to the time you return. Approximately 50 minutes are spent on site at the lighthouse.

Are there any other dates when the lighthouse can be visited?

Yes, a limited number of pedestrian visits are available on non-tour dates between June 21 and Labour Day annually. These visits require guests to walk in to the site (approximately 1.5 kilometres each way) and does not include access to the inside of the lighthouse; only exterior viewing is availa

The Point Abino Lighthouse is a historic structure and may not comply with current public accessibility and safety standards/expectations. By entering the property, you agree to exercise caution and adhere to all signage and instructions.

The bearer of this ticket absolves the Town of Fort Erie, it’s officers, employees or agents, and the volunteers of the Point Abino Lighthouse Preservation Society, from all liability and releases, indemnifies and saves harmless the said Town and PALPS from and against all claims, actions losses, expenses, costs and damages of every nature and kind whatsoever which many result from transportation to or visitation at the Point Abino Lighthouse of and by the bearer.

The Town of Fort Erie reserves the right to reject admittance.

Tours are conducted rain or shine, patrons must dress for weather conditions which may include minor flooding of the lakebed pathway to the lighthouse.

Access to the lighthouse interior includes the requirement to climbs several stairs up to the main floor. Access to the upper floors of the lighthouse is off limits.

All tours are conducted by volunteers.
