2nd Annual Canadian Paediatric SEEG Course

Join the 2nd Annual Stereo-EEG course to gain hands-on experience and cultivate your skills. The conference will include internationally renowned speakers and experienced faculty that will instruct you in solving theoretical cases. Specialist with diverse training, levels of knowledge and experience will assist participants in increasing their knowledge about paediatric stereo-EEG.

Topics of discussion will include identifying abnormalities, challenges and advantages of SEEG use and new technology. Special focus will be on malformation of cortical development and epilepsy.

Each case will be discussed in two phases (practical sessions). In Phase 1, participants receive information from non-invasive investigations like MRI, PET, neuropsychology, seizure semiology and the LTM-EEG data of the patients. They will read EEGs, watch seizures and then will discuss possible implantations side and design their own implantation scheme. In Phase 2, participants will get the chance to read the SEEG traces from the same patients and will develop a resection scheme.

  • Dr. Mathilde Chipaux-Raffo, M.D , PhD, is a child neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist at Rothschild Hospital-Foundation in Paris, France since 2010. She leads one of the busiest and most well recognized paediatric epilepsy surgical EEG programs not only in France but across Europe being one of the leaders in SEEG and SEEG-guided thermocoagulation in children. Her team performed invasive EEG during presurgical evaluation since 1993, and currently 40-45 invasive EEG cases per year, leading to 70 surgeries, only in pediatric population. Doctor Chipaux-Raffo, completed her initial medical and child neurology training in Nancy and her epilepsy training in Necker Enfants Malades Hospital in Paris. Doctor Chipaux-Raffo, is a involved in epilepsy societies in France, across Europe and internationally, including the French Society of Paediatric Neurology, the French Society of Neurophysiology, the American Epilepsy Society and the French chapter of the ILAE. Doctor Chipaux-Raffo’s main research focus are pediatric EEG, epilepsy surgery in children and the genetic basis of malformations of cortical development, that led to multiple peer reviewed scientific publications. She is also deeply involved in the training of the paediatric principles and interpretation of EEG and SEEG across Europe and internationally.
