About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 15 minutes

What to Expect:

  • A welcoming and inclusive environment to explore your body and expression through dance.
  • An experienced teacher who will prioritize your safety and comfort.
  • Mattie will lead a lengthy warmup and stretch to prepare the participants.
  • Mattie will lead the participants through some dance drills to help them learn some basic movements and techniques.
  • Finally Mattie will teach the participants a piece of choreography to music. The choreography will be a hybrid of jazz and hip hop, think pop star music video. Please note that the choreography will have multiple different intensity levels for participants to choose from in order to make it as accessible as possible.


About Mattie:

Mattie James (they/them) is a local drag performer by the name of Sasha Tease, who has be dazzling audiences with their dance moves for the past 2 years. Before this Mattie was living in Toronto sharpening those dance moves as a dance teacher with Army of Sass and The Pink Studio. They primarily teach heels dance (aka dancing in heels), but also love teaching Jazz, comptemary, and musical theater. Mattie loves to teach people who are new to dance or newly returning, as seeing a dancer find their confidence is Mattie’s favourite thing about teaching.
