University of the Arts London invites you to attend a panel discussion on the Creative Essentials of a Successful Designer in the Age of Globalisation and Rapid Response. Academics from University of the Arts London and leading professionals will explore what it takes to thrive as a designer.


Design in a singular practice based context is no longer enough to survive and thrive in our globalised creative world. Creative practitioners and innovators need the awareness of the roles and skills of other industry partners to potentially work in interdisciplinary teams sometimes face to face and sometimes virtually. Leading professionals will discuss the attributes designers need to be successful and explore how the University of the Arts London encourages students to become agile creative practitioners. This incorporates a range of cross platform disciplines including concept generation, visual narratives, craft and hand making through to industry production, prototyping and digital interfaces. Designers need to adapt and evolve to be multi-sensory, interdisciplinary and future ready.
