✂️ This is a TWO-SESSION workshop. Participants MUST attend both dates: Wednesday, April 9 & Wednesday, April 16 from 1 - 3pm.
Join us for this beginner sewing class designed for adults with some sewing machine experience! Over two sessions, you’ll learn how to create a pair of shorts with a patch pocket and elastic waist—perfect for casual wear or sleepwear.
📅 This is a TWO-WEEK program on Wednesday afternoons. Participants must be available for both sessions to ensure they complete their project.
What You’ll Need to Bring:
🔹 Fabric of your choice (cotton broadcloth, flannelette, gingham, or lightweight denim):
- 1.5 yards if using 60” wide fabric
- 1.75 yards if using 45” wide fabric
(Fabric available at Fabricland, Len’s Mill in Barrie, or some Walmart stores.)
🔹 Elastic: 1” width, 1 yard (for the waistband)
🔹 Thread (optional—library will provide thread, but you may wish to bring your own matching thread)
📌 Important Notes:
✅ Pre-requisites: A WBPL library card AND completion of the WBPL Learn Machine Basics class OR previous experience with an electric sewing machine.
✅ Attendance Commitment: This is a TWO-SESSION class. If you register, you are committing to attending BOTH dates.
✅ Prepping Your Fabric: Please pre-wash and dry your fabric before class to prevent shrinking. Press with an iron at home or arrive early to use the library’s iron.
✅ Limited spots: Maximum of 6 registrants. If you register but cannot attend, please notify us promptly so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist.
