About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Resistance and Resilience: An Evening of History, Culture and Fashion is an exciting new event in partnership with the University of Victoria. The evening will bring together local African designs with Canadian Black history.

Students from UVic Students of Colour Collective and African Caribbean Students Association will model African prints from four local designers. While each model walks the runway, radio history capsules created by students for the University of Victoria course: French 310: The Contributions of Black People to Canada’s Literature, Media and Culture class will play, in French and in English, with DJ assistance.

Clothing and jewellery from designers will be on sale. Food and drinks will be provided by Caribbean Village Cafe.
