  • Ronni Bellefontaine, Manager of Clinical Innovation at the Nova Scotia Health Innovation Hub, will present the groundbreaking Wound Innovation Collaborative project and the newly established wound registry.
  • Cecilia Murphy, Program Manager for Wound Care at Nova Scotia Health, will highlight professional development and training opportunities available to healthcare staff, aimed at enhancing wound care practices.

Nova Scotia Health's Wound Innovation Collaborative (WIC) aims to improve the lives of Nova Scotians by empowering communities with the tools and knowledge to deliver equitable wound care. WIC is advancing the standard of care for Nova Scotians when it comes to wound care by improving outcomes, producing meaningful data insights, attracting qualified personnel, increasing human resource capacity, and facilitating knowledge translation within the community.

MIMOSA Diagnostics Inc., founded by Dr. Karen Cross and Dr. General Leung, has developed an ultraportable light-based imaging technology that streamlines tissue health assessments for clinicians across the care continuum by capturing temperature, tissue oxygenation, and digital images in less than one second. The MIMOSA Pro consists of a pocket-sized device and an accompanying HIPAA-compliant web portal where clinicians can monitor patient progress, identify early opportunities for intervention, and collaborate towards improved patient outcomes.


About Interprofessional Practice & Learning's (IPP&L) Wound Care Program

The Nova Scotia Health provincial Wound Prevention and Management Program is a collaborative effort with leaders across Nova Scotia to standardize the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based best practices in wound prevention and management across all of Nova Scotia, regardless of health sector or geographical region. Any health professional who provides care related to wounds or pressure injury and could benefit from education in this area is eligible to be considered for training opportunities.
