About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

The Supernatural Ball and the SFU Vancouver Centre for Community Engagement are pleased to present a thought-provoking panel discussion on “Beyond the Runway: Ballroom Culture in Fashion and Music” featuring leaders from the ballroom community.

Ballroom culture originated in NYC and grew to influence all levels in mainstream culture. Ballroom is known for its artistic expression through music and fashion: bold, creative, and able to challenge conventional norms. It is a form of self-expression for trans, gay, queer, and non-binary people that is often setting trends that extend beyond the culture itself. During this panel, our esteemed speakers will share their knowledge, experience, and thoughts on art within ballroom, the inspirations that drive their style, and how the ballroom has influenced their lives personally and professionally.

This event will take place on Friday, November 15th. It will bring together prominent leaders to share their insights on exploring style, creativity, and culture within ballroom culture and the power of ballroom culture in their lives, personally and professionally.
