Introduction to Machine Learning

Introduction

Come Join us for our in-person workshop titled Machines that Learn: AI Friends (Introduction to Machine Learning) on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, for boys ages 8 – 12 & 13-17.

This workshop is designed to introduce learners to the fundamental concepts of machine learning, a branch of artificial intelligence that enables computers to learn from and make decisions based on data. Throughout this workshop, learners will engage with interactive activities, practical coding exercises, and collaborative projects to build a solid foundation in machine learning principles. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a basic understanding of how machine learning works and how it can be applied to solve real-world problems.

Materials Required

To ensure a smooth and productive learning experience, the following materials are necessary for the workshop:

  • Learning Resources: All necessary learning resources, including instructional materials, sample datasets, and coding templates, will be provided to the learners during the workshop.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, learners will be able to:

1.Understand Basic Concepts of Machine Learning:

  • Define machine learning and understand its significance in the field of artificial intelligence.
  • Differentiate between supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.

2. Engage in Practical Coding Exercises:

  • Write simple machine learning algorithms using Code.org.
  • Experiment with datasets to train and test machine learning models.

3.Apply Machine Learning to Real-World Problems:

  • Identify potential applications of machine learning in various industries.
  • Develop small projects that utilize machine learning to solve practical problems.

4.Collaborate and Share Learning:

  • Work in groups to complete machine learning projects.
  • Present findings and share insights with peers, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

This workshop aims to empower learners with the skills and knowledge needed to begin their journey in the exciting field of machine learning. We look forward to seeing the innovative projects and solutions that the participants will create!
