The City of Brantford is offering a free program for New Canadians in Brantford interested in participating in swimming/recreational programming at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre.
This program will provide New Canadians in Brantford the opportunity to:
- Learn basic water safety;
- Complete a swim assessment for participants who may be new to swimming to assist with registering for the appropriate swim skill level; and
- Guide participants on how to register for swimming lessons through ActiveNet.
- 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm: Tour of the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre
- 6:00pm to 7:00pm: Step-by-step instruction on how to register for a program online
- 7:00pm to 8:00pm: Swim Lesson assessment to determine what level to register yourself or your child(ren)
- 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm: Learn basic water safety skills in and around the water
To participate in the swim lesson assessment and water skills activities, please bring a bathing suit and towel and be prepared to be in the water. Participants are welcome to bring a translator if translation support is needed. Registration is required.
