Building Five Pre-Reading Early Literacy Skills in Play and Relationship

In partnership with ELLA (Early Learning and Literacy Alliance of Waterloo Region), this monthly Community of Practice will allow us to discuss how, through play, we build:

Oral communication

Language comprehension

Vocabulary

Phonological Awareness

Phonemic Awareness

Print Awareness

Mark-Making

…and more!

These skills are all built through play and relationship and align with the structured literacy approach the school boards are now using from JK/SK onward. In addition to practical pedagogical methods, would include a focus on how to talk to parents/families about these skills and what they can do at home.
