About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

This show features an extraordinary play, live music by a wonderful singer-songwriter and raise awareness and funds through a raffle for My Friend's House, the women's shelter in Collingwood. The event will begin with a set by local singer-songwriter Shjaane Glover, an emerging artist in Collingwood who is attracting a lot of attention! www.shjaaneglover.com

A short intermission will be followed by a performance of Butterfly Tongue, written and performed by Owen Sound's poet laureate emeritus, Richard-Yves Sitoski. www.rsitoski.com

This one hour theatre piece tells the story of a small town foundry worker's chance meeting with a woman at a bus shelter; a meeting that blows his world wide open, fueling his life with hope and love.

The woman at the bus shelter, Susan, is homeless and struggles with addiction. She is fearless yet vulnerable and her impact on the main character is immense.

Raising awareness of vulnerable women who face domestic violence and struggle with mental health challenges is a central goal of the event. There will be an opportunity for audience members to learn a little about the local Collingwood shelter, My Friend's House, and to participate in some fundraising through raffle prizes and auction items.
