Join us for an evening of healing, connection, and personal transformation as we delve into sacred practices to help you decolonize your body, emotions, and mind.
Arkaya Foundation invites you to celebrate the culture and wisdom traditions of India and our local Indigenous communities. Led by Arkaya founder, Yogacharini Maitreyi, the focus of the event is on cultural appreciation & experiential learning:
- an opening blessing from Squamish Nation Elder + drummers,
- welcome from the Consulate General of India,
- Kirtan & sacred music,
- mindful movement in chairs,
- a wisdom talk,
- sound healing through traditional Indian & Indigenous instruments
- Plus Indian food, chai and chocolate!
All to integrate your multidimensional being. Kirtan, in Sanskrit, means, “sacred soul song / devotional singing”.
- Experience the depth of Indian healing arts and Indigenous culture.
- Enjoy delicious healthy Indian food + chai from Indish Foods & Akbar's Own before and after the workshop.
- Engage in mindfulness practices from the Yogic and Classical Tantric traditions that will leave you feeling rejuvenated, inspired and empowered!

Before and after the workshop, join us for an OPTIONAL additional 1.5 hours of delicious food and heartfelt connections in the "Make a New Friend Corner"!

Yogacharini Maitreyi
Yogacharini Maitreyi is an international senior teacher, corporate trainer, practical mystic and founder of Arkaya Foundation. For over 26 years she has been dedicated to sharing and teaching a full-spectrum, decolonized approach to Yoga, mindfulness, traditional Tantra and expansive life principles. Her grandfather was her first guru (Lakshmi Narasimha lineage) and then she studied and served in the Shivananda and Ananda ashram for many years.
Maitreyi facilitates a variety of online programs through the Arkaya school, including the 500-hour Self-Awareness Yoga & Tantra Teacher Training and a weekly drop in Community Class and Satsangh. All are welcome. To learn more, click here.

Neeraja Aptikar
Neeraja Aptikar, Hindustani Vocalist, a Performer and a Teacher is trained in the Gwalior and Kirana Gharana Styles under well-known Gurus, Sangeet Ratna Pandit Shivaji Rao Bharati and Professor Jayashree Ranade, pune. She is trained in Classical, Semi Classical and Light Music in many languages and has been Performing and Teaching Music for decades for many years in India, US, Canada. Nenad Jankovic
Nenad started playing tabla at the Sivananda Satsang years ago and is now playing for different local Kirtan comunities and Satsangs. He is studying tabla with Ustad Cassius Khan and atteded workshops of Pandit Yogesh Samsi and Dr. Reema Johri. Nenad also plays other percussion instruments such as darbuka, daf and tapan.
David Yates
David is a multi-instrumentalist who is dedicated to the healing power of music. He plays didjereedoo, hand pan, and various flutes and drums.
Frequently asked questions
The main event is from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. However, we encourage everybody to come early and stay late to enjoy connecting with this warm community. Food trucks, chai and community time are open pre-event from 3:00 to 4:30 PM and post-event from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
There will be food trucks outside serving amazing Indian food (Indish Foods: www.instagram.com/indishfoodtruck) and a delicious Indian dessert called Rasmalai inside (Akbar's Own: https://www.akbarsown.com). There will also be hot chai inside!
