About this event

No clay experience required! All are welcome. This class is a step-by-step introduction to the amazing world of mishima glazing, where your own creative mark making takes centre stage. Learn all about resist glazing as you decorate a choice of two bisque fired pieces. We will explore water etching with or without glaze trailing, wax resist with wash, and wax resist mishima (carving). Your decorated ceramics will then be fired at the studio and ready to pick up one week after the class. Hope to see you in the studio soon!

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring anything?

Everything is provided except aprons. Please bring a large oversized t-shirt to put over your outfit, or choose to wear appropriate clothing. The wax can mark fabrics but it is cold and non toxic (glazes all wash off and are non toxic).

Can children attend?

Absolutely children can join our workshops! Everyone is welcome. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult who is also participating in the workshop.

What is bisque fired?

Ceramics are usually fired twice after they have air dried completely: there is a bisque firing and then a glaze firing. The pieces you will choose to decorate will be porous and somewhat fragile, ready to soak up the glazes.

Is there parking nearby?

There is plenty of free street parking around the studio!

When will my pieces be ready for pick up?

Your pieces should be ready in about one week. The studio will email you when everything is ready for pick up.
