A hybrid workshop for deliberative democracy practitioners working on climate action to develop a common advocacy plan for COP30.
Date and time
Location
Simon Fraser University - Vancouver Campus
515 West Hastings Street Room 2200 Vancouver, BC V6B 5K3 CanadaAbout this event
In November 2025, the UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 30) will be convening in Belém, Brazil offering an opportunity to continue advocacy efforts towards increased citizens’ deliberation in the design and implementation of climate responses. Several colleagues within the field of deliberative democracy have been active in past COP events and other advocacy efforts for climate deliberation, and we believe that our collective efforts could be strengthened through further collaboration.
Following the Democracy R&D annual gathering in Vancouver, BC, Delibera Brasil and Simon Fraser University’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue will be co-hosting a hybrid workshop for colleagues working in the field of climate deliberation. Goals include:
- To identify common advocacy goals for climate deliberation that could be advanced at COP30
- To identify key advocacy opportunities and instruments we could use to advance shared goals at COP30
- To map key external alliances for our advocacy work
- To identify our shared aspirations for governance on climate
This event will be a hybrid event, hosted in-person at the Wosk Centre for Dialogue in Vancouver, as well as online via Zoom.
