About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Who should decide what scale and type of development should go into an existing neighbourhood? Should it be the City which has close relationships and an overall perspective of development and housing needs across all neighbourhoods? Or should it be the Province who understands the urgent need for development and sees that many local governments are not doing their part to allow change and growth?

Organized by

Urbanarium is a registered charity led by an 18-person Board of Directors made up of architects, landscape architects, planners, developers, community leaders and other professionals who are passionate about city building. As well, there are 12 distinguished individuals on a Board of Advisors and many energetic and committed volunteers.

Our intention is to become a respected place for advanced urban conversation and reliable information without political or ideological bias while motivating residents, governments, and industry to take informed action to improve their cities.

We carry out our work on the ancestral and unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. As an organization that focuses on city-making, we know that how we relate to the land we occupy matters, and challenges us to respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action.
