About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Hosted by both Toni Nagy and collaborative co-star Seraphina Supernova, this workshop is open to all bodies and experience levels as Toni and Sarah guide you through somatic practices to support you on the non-linear, courageous path of healing yourself, claiming sovereignty over your mind, body and heart, and CLAIMING self-authority (authorship) over your personal narrative so that together, we can heal the world. CLAIM YOURSELF is a somatic and spiritual workshop for personal liberation, self-realization and collective healing.

UNLEASH YOUR MOST WILD CREATIVE SELF

A somatic workshop with the wacky, feral, pulsing, gyrating, dancing comedian Toni Nagy, designed to unapologetically unleash your wild creativity. Together we will blast past blockages and release emotional constipation so you can disco with your authentic self.

Everyone is born an artist. It is through our programming and the pressures of society that we often lose sight of our creative flow, thus feeling blocked from expressing the genius that resides within. Creative constipation can make us physically, mentally, and spiritually ill.

When we are too much into our heads— overthinking, judging, talking ourselves out of our imaginative impulses - frustration can become all-consuming. The mind can make us question ourselves, and that’s when we must turn to our hearts for strength.

My favorite quote is “create art as if your parents were dead.” I love this idea because I always want to work from a place of unadulterated truth-telling. I want to take risks. I want to push myself beyond what I think is possible. I want to feel free to create unapologetically.

How do we embody this ethos? How do we let go of our expectations for results? How do we resist over-concerning ourselves with the opinions of others? How do we embrace moments of quiet reflection? How do we release pressure? How can we allow ourselves to slide into our creative flow and not force it?

It’s my opinion that our greatest insecurities, our deepest shame, our shadow side that we want to hide from the world, is actually our creative super-power. Our shadow is what makes us unique! We don’t want to run from our shadow (it will follow us anyway). We should instead ask our shadow to dance!

WHO SHOULD COME TO THIS WORKSHOP?

This workshop is open to anyone and everyone interested in investigating their relationship to their creativity. All that is required is curiosity. No prior movement experience is necessary.

WHY YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE

The workshop will involve aspects of meditation, reflection, writing, discussion, and most importantly… MOVEMENT! I’ve developed a curriculum of somatic study that will work through emotional concepts such as our relationship to control, rage, love, acceptance, fear, judgement, play, joy, gratitude, and more. Through this work we will physically, mentally, and spiritually provoke shifts in perspective.

We will also explore stagnation, physical pain, patterns that hold us back, and how we fear change even when it’s the medicine we most need. We will examine the voices in our heads that do not belong to us, and learn to release them. We will connect to our own intuition and body wisdom by letting go of the influences of others that no longer serve us.

We will develop embodiment practices, and embolden participants with many tools to bring home in order to continue this work in their lives.
