Join us on Thursday, November 21 for a Collage Party with tahsine, presented by Issues Magazine Shop.
Doors at 7PM / Talk and workshop starts at 7:30PM / The East Room at 50 Carroll Street
These workshops are different than our intimate, in-store experiences. (Sidebar: Those are amazing and we seriously suggest you attend one.) But these are built for a night out with friends. Pull up a seat at our art table. Sip on a glass on wine, while our artist host tells you about the magic of collage—and how they weave it into their practice.
This workshop will be a call and response style of play. tahsine will call out an emotion, a feeling, a theme and you will find an image to represent that. It will be a chance to flex our quick thinking processes and allow for us to assign meaning to things in abstract ways. From there we can assemble our collage(s) in whichever ways feel most resonant.
Meet our host:
tahsine (b. 198X) is a first-generation canadian daughter of the diaspora with roots in east africa, india, west asia and north america. in arabic, ‘tahsine’ means to enrich, beautify, make better; so it is prescient that she has always been drawn to an artistic expression. tahsine works interdisciplinarily through collage, textile, sculpture and living. she curates embodied assemblages by stitching and pasting together various media and textiles. her thematic influences include – time, space, pace, society, culture, equity, empathy, energy, purpose, and potential – all contributing to our collective states and the spectrum of (well)being. tahsine is a human (be-ing) and a mother of two bright stars (precious seeds).
