Community-Led Conversations - Canadians of South Asian Heritages Museum

The community-hosted conversations are part of a public engagement to inform the vision for a new museum/cultural centre that will highlight the histories, cultures, and contributions of Canadians of South Asian heritages in B.C.

The focus of the engagement is to welcome ideas and input from communities who share in these histories and cultures, and whose stories and contributions will be reflected in this initiative.

    • Contribute to the preservation and celebration of South Asian heritage in B.C.
    • Engage in meaningful dialogue with community members
    • Help shape a cultural space that represents diverse stories and contributions

    Honorarium:

Spaces are limited, so reserve your spot today to ensure your voice is heard in shaping this exciting new project.

    Frequently asked questions

    Who is considered South Asian?

Who is South Asian? The BCMA recognizes that this term is rooted in colonialism, and aims to cluster a wide range of peoples and communities under one name. This name is one of the topics we encourage folks to discuss during community-led feedback sessions, as we respect the complexity of the term.

    What happens with community feedback?

Any major decision-making for exact location, curatorial and thematic plans, exhibits, etc. will occur after community feedback has been reviewed and will include additional engagement with communities.

What are additional forms of engaging on this initiative?

The Province has launched a public engagement to inform the vision for a new museum or cultural centre in BC. Feedback from engagement activities, such as this survey, will be compiled and analyzed to identify themes to form a public What We Heard report. Visit EngageBC to access the survey.

Who can you contact with any further questions?
