Workshop: Connecting to Your North Star

Workshop to dive into what motivates you and how you can find it in your current work

About this event

Why do you do what you do?

"I don't know" was the response of one client when asked the above question. Here he was, an engineer for over 10 years, challenged to answer this seemingly simple question. Unfortunately, he's not alone in this struggle.

In over 50 interviews with technical managers, leaders and HR professionals, the top challenge they were faced with was - people management. That is, the challenge of managing their own motivation and sense of belonging, and then how to manage working with and leading their teams.

This sense of disconnect to work may be leading you to be challenged with:

  • Near burnout: Working tirelessly with limited personal satisfaction,
  • Disengaged team: You don't feel a sense of connection with your team. It feels like you and everyone is "paddling in different directions", or
  • Employee turnover: You or your team are constantly seeking new opportunities where the "grass is greener",

What can you expect?

This interactive workshop is designed to guide you to better connect with your North Star and find more meaning in your career. Connecting with yourself is the first step to better connecting with your work and your team.

You'll have a chance to reflect independently, dive into group discussions, and hear feedback and encouragement from your facilitator.

At the end of the workshop, you will have an:

  • Increased self awareness, particularly on what your intrinsic motivators are,
  • Better understanding of what motivates you at work, and
  • Clearer vision of future steps to stay connected to meaning in your work,

Who else will be there?

This workshop is aimed to serve those that struggle connecting to their personal meaning and their colleagues at work.

In our past work, we've had success working with:

  • Technical managers in engineering, construction, finance, business, etc.
  • Early stage entrepreneurs,
  • Executives and leaders in small to mid-sized businesses,
