Hello folks!

Starting again this January 2025, ODD will be hosting morning dance classes! Most classes are contemporary dance based, supplemented with periodic Pilates classes and other somatic practices.

Some details:

• Classes take place in Studio B at ODD which is in Arts Court (2 Daly Avenue) on the 2nd floor.

• These are intermediate/advanced level classes, some contemporary dance experience is recommended. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions at oddisdancing@gmail.com.

• Classes are $12 and can be paid at the end of class in person by cash or card.

Contemporary class with Jocelyn Todd

About the class:

My classes are extensions of my history of movement education that includes pedagogy from an array of movement teachers with backgrounds in improvisation, floor work and contemporary technique from Canada and abroad. My classes explore open movement, breath, improvisations, contemporary dance technique and the organic qualities of floor work.

About Jocelyn:

Jocelyn Todd (she/her) is a choreographer and multi-disciplinary artist currently working in so-called Ottawa on unceded Anishinabe Algonquin territory. After graduating from The School of Dance (TSOD) Contemporary Dance Programme in 2012, she began living and working in London, UK. While working abroad she studied extensively in dance, movement and choreographic pedagogy and process. She presented her choreographic work in London and Suffolk and participated in choreographic residency at the Barbican Centre.

Returning to Canada in 2020, Jocelyn has been the grateful recipient of Ottawa Arts Council, City of Ottawa, Ontario Arts Council and Canada Council for the Arts grants for professional development, creation, public presentation and festival producing. Her work as a teacher combines varied movement and improvisation practices with contemporary pedagogies and encourages the uniqueness of each individual body.

Jocelyn was the co-artistic director of Dark Horse Dance Projects (DHDP), a dance creation and presentation platform that spanned seven seasons (2015-2022).

She is currently working as an independent choreographer and collaborates with artists across disciplines. Jocelyn is deeply grateful for the practice of movement and creation and for the communities of artists that she is privileged to know and work with.
