Hello folks!

Starting again this September 2024, ODD will be hosting morning dance classes! Most classes are contemporary dance based, supplemented with periodic Pilates classes and other somatic practices.

Some details:

• Classes take place in Studio B at ODD which is in Arts Court (2 Daly Avenue) on the 2nd floor.

• These are intermediate/advanced level classes, some contemporary dance experience is recommended. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions at oddisdancing@gmail.com.

• Classes are $12 and can be paid at the end of class in person by cash or card. You may also pay in advance, but ODD cannot absord the Eventbrite fees.

Contemporary class with Mary Catherine Jack

Class Description:
Our feet connect us to the Earth. They also dance us and carry us on our journey. We will attend to our feet.
Our core is the basic, essential, and enduring part of us. Composed of muscles that both stabilize and move us, we will execute exercises to strengthen these muscles.
Endurance is the ability to sustain prolonged activity. We will challenge the boundaries of our endurance with varying dynamic movement, to include, improvisation and choreographed patterns.
Our artistry is our creative skill and ability. We will tap into this throughout the class. Strong physicality, surprises and Pierre-Luc’s music will be the conduit.
You can wear indoor shoes if you want. Prepare to sweat.

Bio:

Mary Catherine Jack is an Ottawa based independant dance artist. She is passionate about movement and takes great joy in sharing this passion with others. She divides her career between teaching, creating and performing. Mary Catherine is constantly exploring the corners of her imagination and expanding her movement repertoire through ongoing research, training and study. She finds inspiration readily and often in nature, in art, in music and in the community she surrounds herself with.
