Can kids join?

Kids can join with an adult - hot mochi isn't safe for some little friends to handle on their own, but they can help in some way, such as by rolling bean paste balls or sprinkling starch. Note that mochi is extremely chewy and a choking hazard for young children or frail adults. Best for kids over 8

What ingredients will we use?

For mochi:
    115 g (¾ cup) mochiko glutinous rice flour
    50 g (¼ cup) granulated sugar
    180 ml (¾ cup) water

Filling:
    480 g (1 ½ cup) anko red bean paste
     (optional) 10 - 15 strawberries

For shaping:
    1 cup or more cornstarch

There's a few kinds of anko (bean paste) - what's the best?

That's up to you! Koshi-an is smooth red bean paste. Tsubo-an is chunky. Shiro-an is white bean paste. The event picture is shiro-an strawberry daifuku.
