About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

The use of artificial intelligence to produce new works is a unique challenge to copyright law which was intended to protect the works of human authors. The courts and governments around the world are struggling to apply copyright law to the 'works' produced by this new technology. This presentation will provide a snapshot of the current state of the law in this rapidly evolving landscape.

The audience who should attend is any entrepreneur who is using or contemplating the use of artificial intelligence in their business to ensure that they understand the limits of copyright law in protecting any ownership or other exclusive rights in the works produced by such software.

Attendees will come away with an understanding of the current state of Canadian law governing copyright for works produced by artificial intelligence and the risk that such works may not qualify for copyright protection.
