Carr House is collaborating with the Greater Victoria Public Library to offer a children's storytime!
In this session, GVPL staff will be reading Emily Carr and art themed books, like "The Art Room: Drawing and Painting with Emily Carr" written by Susan Vande Griek and illustrated by Pascal Milelli. In addition, GVPL staff will guide children through singing songs, and free time will follow to work on a craft or colouring page (craft tba)!
This event will take place in Carr House's multipurpose room, which used to be Emily Carr's bedroom! With this in mind, children are welcome to attend this event in their pyjamas, and are encouraged to bring their favourite stuffed animal and/or a blanket to sit on. Emily Carr, after all, loved her animals! Chairs will be provided for parents and/or children who don't wish to bring a blanket or sit on the floor.

A note for parents: This event is for children ages 0-8. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Due to the limited space and capacity limits, we encourage one parent per family attend the event. We unfortunately will not be able to host additional adults in Carr House's multipurpose room. Additional adults attending with their families are welcome to tour Carr House instead, or enjoy our gardens!
Please only book tickets for children attending this event (i.e. parent does not need to register).

Please note this event will take place in a multipurpose room on the second floor of Carr House. Please reach out to events@carrhouse.ca with any requests, questions, or concerns regarding accessibility of the event, and we will do our best to accommodate!
Visitors are welcome to park in our driveway during visits. As a historic site, please note parking is limited. While we do have room for approximately 5 vehicles, free parking is also available at Beacon Hill Park (a short walk away). Vehicles must be able to drive around the driveway at all times.
As a small organization, Carr House reserves the right to cancel any event if minimum registration is not met. Participants may cancel their registration up to 24 hours before the event. Please cancel if you are no longer able to make it, to provide room for other children and their parents!
As a small heritage organization, Carr House and its third parties work hard to deliver public-facing events and workshops. To allow appropriate time for our staff and affiliates to prepare, event registration closes 24 hours before the event start time.
All materials and supplies are included. Just bring your imagination! Children are welcome to attend in their pyjamas, and can bring their favourite stuffed animal and/or a blanket. Chairs will be provided for parents and/or children who don't wish to sit on the floor.

Carr House's multipurpose room will open 5-10 minutes before the event start time to allow families time to find a seat/spot to sit and get comfortable. Carr House is currently open Fridays & Saturdays 10am-3pm, and families are welcome to tour the rest of the house before or after the event.
This event does not include refreshments. Families are, however, welcome and encouraged to bring a lunch to eat before or after the event! Food must be consumed outside in the gardens, or on the front/back porches.
Please do not attend this event if you or your child(ren) are sick! Families who arrive sick and risk infecting other visitors will not be allowed to attend this event. We intend to continue a collaborative relationship with the GVPL, and encourage you to register for a future event instead!
