This is a series of 4 courses that take a deep dive into damascus bladesmithing. All courses are taught by Allen Rozon, a seasoned bladesmith with over 20 years of experience, who honed his craft under the guidance of masters from around the world. This is a unique opportinuty to focus on your bladesmithing, one skill at a time, to level up the quality of your knives.
There are a total of 8 full days of instruction.
Part 1: Forging Damascus
In this two-day introductory class, students will delve into the intricate world of Damascus steel, also known as pattern-welded steel. Under the expert guidance of Allen Rozon, participants will learn the foundational techniques required to create a small billet of Damascus steel. [read more]

Part 2: Forging a Chef’s Knife
In this immersive three-day class, students will embark on the journey of creating their own chef's knife from start to finish. Under Allen Rozon's expert guidance, participants will learn the intricate process of designing, forging, and heat treating a professional-grade chef's knife. [read more]

Part 3: Chef’s Knife Handle
Students will take their forged chef knives to the next level by learning the art of mounting bolsters and handles. Under Allen Rozon's expert guidance, participants will transform their blades into fully functional, aesthetically pleasing culinary tools using premium materials provided by the instructor. Part 4: Sharpening Knives on Stones
In this one-day class, students will learn the essential skills needed for effectively sharpening knives using both natural and synthetic sharpening stones. Edge geometry will be discussed, and students will gain insights into how to assess the sharpness and condition of their knives. [read more]

All days run from 9am-5pm with a 1h lunch. All materials, safety equipment, coffee and tea will be provided. Lunch is available in town / an indoor lunch area with a microwave and fridge is provided on site if you bring your own food. Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.

We recommend that you have taken at least one forging course of any type beforehand, to prepare you for fire management. Absolutely! This intensive is perfect for anyone who has done an intro course in bladesmithing. This course dives very deep into every aspect of bladesmithing and damascus so that you can take your work to the next level.
We wanted to offer more scheduling flexibility for students, so you will be choosing one of the two dates to take Part 1. You do not need to be available for both dates.
Yes! The local GRT buses drop you off around the corner from the shop. There are also trains and GO buses that come in from Toronto, Hamilton, Brampton, etc.
If you are on foot, there is a pizza place around the corner. If you arrive by car, there is a local Tim Horton's, an excellent curry place, Subway, falafels and more.
No - we will provide safety glasses and earplugs. We also have a water bottle refill station, 2 washrooms (wheelchair accessible), a fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee and tea. Please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and have no hanging items such as long necklaces or flowing sleeves.
