About this event:

Hosted by local artists Amber Downie-Back and Kiera Shaw, this relaxed gathering invites our local community of dancers, choreographers, and movement artists to connect. Come celebrate our achievements, share excitement for current projects, and dream about the future. Participate in community conversations in a fun and informal atmosphere!

About the hosts:

Amber Downie-Back (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist investigating the intersections of media art, contemporary dance and installation. Amber has a BFA in Contemporary Dance from Concordia University and has performed in programs such as Festival TransAmeriques (2019), and more. Their collaborative work “on the nature of…” received the Chrystal Dance Prize in 2023.

Kiera Shaw (she/her) is a moving, thinking dance artist. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography/BA in Kinesiology with a certificate in Dance Science from York University. Kiera’s artistic practice spans dance/choreography, production, and education. Her choreographic work has been presented throughout Canada at the National Arts Center’s Matriarchs Uprising, Dancing on the Edge Festival, and at Nextfest. She is Dance Victoria’s Artist Programs & Studio Manager and the incoming Artistic Director for Dancestreams.
