About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Are AI technologies making disinformation and historical inequalities worse? If so, what can we do about it?

Join L.K. Bertram from the Department of History and the CDHI AI and Humanities Lab at the University of Toronto to explore the wild histories behind the age of social media disinformation. From Cold War and Soviet-era sexpionage and dezinformatsiya to the rise of Silicon Valley monopolies and far-right North American lobbyists, understanding the roots of this contemporary problem is essential to developing the policies and practices needed to safeguard public access to quality information and the future of equitable, democratic societies.

Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
