About this event

Join Us for an Evening of Creativity and Calm

Explore the serene world of Sumi-e, the traditional East Asian ink painting technique that has captivated artists and enthusiasts for centuries. This community workshop is designed for all levels, offering a unique opportunity to learn from local artist Ann K. Chou.

This is a free event for our community members! It will take place on Friday May 24th, 6pm-8:30pm at the Community Art Hub Quadra Village 901 Kings Rd (Around the back of the Quadra Village Community Centre).

Ann K Chou (she/her) is a multi-talent light-oriented visual installation artist, who is mostly fond of spontaneous brush works, in both Chinese calligraphy ink and acrylics. Ann has come from a relative quiet intersectionality -- deaf first-generation immigrant from Hong Kong. Her life-long art media are lanterns in possession and wearable puppet in parades.

Event Highlights:

  • Hands-On Instruction: Receive step-by-step guidance on brush strokes, ink gradation, and composition.
  • All Materials Provided: Brushes, ink, and paper will be provided for your use.
  • Create Your Own Artwork: Bring the tranquility of nature to life as you create your own ink painting.
  • Relaxing Atmosphere: Enjoy a peaceful setting that fosters creativity and mindfulness
