    Join us for the Historic Beaver Street Walking Tour, and Discover the HEART of Banff.

    Explore this charming street with a guided tour starting at the Historic Luxton Home Museum. One block from Banff Avenue, Beaver Street is the first residential area created in Banff. It draws lines of connection to much of Banff's early and significant history. This in-person event is perfect for history buffs and curious minds. Don't miss this opportunity to step back in time and discover the stories that shaped the Banff community.

    Frequently asked questions

    Will the tour happen if it rains?

    We will run the walking tour in rainy weather. We will cancel if there is a severe storm threat or lightening.

    Are children allowed on the tour?

    Yes. Children under 12 are free. Parents are responsible for their children, and please note that we are walking on a busy street in Banff.

    How accessible is the tour?

    The tour takes place on town sidewalks. All abilities are welcome, but please note that we are travelling on a busy street and sidewalk in Banff.

    How accessible is the Luxton Home Museum?

    Our founder, Eleanor Luxton, spent many years with various types of mobility aids. There is a ramp at the back entrance and the home can accommodate moderately sized wheelchairs, as well as walkers, and other walking aids.

    Do I need to wear hiking boots?

    The tour takes place on town sidewalks, so hiking boots are not necessary. But do note you will be standing for 30 minutes (there are only a few places to sit along the route).

    The Historic Luxton Home is a historic site is full of secrets and stories from early Banff. The Luxton family were adventurers, entrepreneurs, and collectors. Discover Alberta artwork, historic beadwork, vintage furniture, and more than a few taxidermy specimens. Each room is bursting with keepsakes and trinkets. The home is open 5 days a week, no tickets required. Ticketed special events happen weekly or monthly during summer open hours.
