Managing the Role of Caregiver to a Child with a Disability as They Grow

Caregivers of children with disabilities are often tasked with taking on many different roles in their child's life: service coordinator and navigator for their child's care, support person, mentor, and more.

These roles can often become overwhelming, so how does one cope with performing all of these roles, alongside their other responsibilities? While many caregivers are highly resilient and resourceful, this workshop offers some additional tips and tricks for how to identify stress, cope with stressors, navigate services, adapt to common changes, and how to work with your child to better support both of your emotional needs.

We will also invite caregivers themselves to share their own experiences and expertise in navigating this rewarding, yet oftentimes unrecognized role.

This initiative is part of TVCC's Wellness Project. The Wellness Project is a four-year program aimed at rebuilding and enhancing mental wellness for youth and their families. We understand that the past few years have brought unique challenges, and we want to help. We're running programs with a focus on connection, mindfulness, physical activity, and new skills.
