In the summer of 2026/2027 downtown Palmerston will undergo significant renovations. The Big Dig 2026 project includes the reconstruction of Palmerston's Main Street East and West. The limits of the reconstruction are 400 meters west of Toronto Street to 140 meters east of King’s Highway 23. The overall scope of the project includes the full replacement of underground infrastructure (existing watermain, sanitary and storm sewer), including new services to property line for properties serviced from Main Street E/W, streetscaping as well as road surface works including; improved roadway cross-sections, sidewalks, and driveway entrances as well as various intersection improvements.
The focus of the meeting will be to present proposed project phasing and detour routes as well as brainstorm ideas for marketing/promotions and events.
Business owners, local service clubs, and community groups are highly encouraged to participate and share their ideas on how we can all thrive despite the disruptions.
