About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

In this 5-week program designed for 9-11-year-olds, we will be looking at the current form of personal flight and testing out our own ideas for the future. Each class runs for 2 hours giving ample time to build and experiment. Using our WHOA (Wonder, Harness, Open and Arrive) cycle we will explore:

  • What current machines exist? How challenging is it to stay up? (Hover boards, Helium and Rocket Balloons)
  • What controls flight? Air pressure, wing position and streamlining
  • When there are no runways we will need to go UP! Helicopters and parachutes.
  • Perfecting Gliders - build and test.
  • What needs to be considered? Licenses , space and air traffic control.

Join us, have fun and consider...what could be possible.

Classes run for 5 weeks from the Saturday 1st February to March 1st from 9:30-11:30.

Frequently asked questions

Does my child need any experience with Science, STEM or Critical Thinking?

Not at all. The workshops are designed to meet each child's interests and ability.

Where is the drop off and pick up?

We will meet in the main foyer 5 minutes before class and then again at the end of each session.

What experience do the instructors have?

I have been a Science teacher for over 20 years working with 6-12 year-olds. Drop Thought Kids has run in the UK and Shanghai, China and has now returned home to Canada.

If we are unable to attend can we get a refund?

We all know that kids have their own ideas and opinions and that life can be busy. Refunds will be available up to one day after the first class.

Are there other ways we can participate in Drop Thought Kids' workshops?

All new workshops will be announced in February once the space has been confirmed.

What if we are unable to travel due to bad weather?

We will follow the advice of the Peel School Board. If schools are closed due to bad weather then we will as well. A make up class will be added to the end of the sessions in March.
