The Biographies of the Performers


• Delaram Amiri

Delaram Amiri is a skilled Tombak player known for her expressive and authentic style. She combines traditional rhythms with her own creative approach, creating performances that engage and connect with her audience. Under the guidance of Navid Afghah, she has developed her craft, starting in Shiraz and performing at venues around the world.

Starting her musical training at a young age, she has performed at iconic locations like the Azadi and Hafez concert halls, establishing herself as a prominent figure in the Shiraz cultural scene. Her dedication has led to numerous performances at Shiraz University, where she has engaged with fellow musicians and enriched her artistic expression.

Beyond her roots in Iran, Delaram has successfully shared her talent in the United States, showcasing her skills at esteemed academic institutions including the University of California, Irvine, UCLA, UC Riverside, and UC San Diego. Her performances have not only highlighted her technical proficiency but have also fostered cross-cultural connections through music.

Delaram’s talent has also performed in venues like Town Hall Seattle, the Pardis Center and Seattle City Hall, as well as the Performing Arts Theater in Seattle, allowing her to reach diverse audiences and spread her love for the Tombak beyond borders. Through each performance, she continues to inspire and uplift, embodying the spirit of her heritage while forging new paths in the musical landscape.


• August Denhard

August Denhard performs on lute, theorbo, baroque guitar, Turkish oud, and a variety of guitar family instruments from Latin America. He is a cofounder of the Eurasia Consort and Trío Guadalevín, and has appeared with Ensemble Caprice, Baroque Northwest, Seattle Baroque Orchestra, the Oregon Symphony, and on many music series across the USA. He has served as the Executive Director of the largest early music presenter in the Pacific Northwest, Early Music Seattle, since 2000, where he has produced baroque opera performances, educational programs, and concerts with musicians such as Matthias Maute and Jordi Savall. In 2024 he was named Artistic Director of Early Music Seattle.

His colleagues and collaborators in early music and related genres are varied and numerous and include tenor Eric Mentzel, composer/oudist Münir Nurettin Beken, folklorist Abel Rocha, percussionist and educator Antonio Gómez, harpist Tomoko Sugawara, dancer and anthropologist Monica Rojas-Stewart, soprano Lisa Maria Rodríguez, and many others.

Denhard has a particular interest in expanding the definition and repertoire of early music and seeks to connect ancient music traditions across the globe in order to recognize the cultural ties that we all share. He does this through artistic planning, concert presentation, scholarship, teaching, writing, advocacy, and community service.
