The Energy Futures Lab (EFL) invites you to explore what an energy transition could look like for the city of Red Deer. The EFL will host the Energy Futures Roadshow and will involve different audiences in the community, including municipal government, local businesses and economic development authorities, schools, and the general public.

ROADSHOW OBJECTIVES

Increase understanding about the energy system and explore polarization of energy issues in general and in the local context.

Explore a desired energy system that the future requires of us in Red Deer.

Identify initiatives and areas of personal and collective action that can accelerate progress towards an energy system that the future requires of us.

ROADSHOW WORKSHOP #1 DETAILS

September 19th - Energy Transition Simulation

Through a role-playing simulation, this session will provide an opportunity for participants to experience decades of energy transition in one day and to draw insights from the experience for taking action together in Red Deer. This event will take place from 8:30 am - 5 pm.

September 20th - Community Resilience

The second day takes a workshop format and sees participants explore the implications of the Energy Futures Lab vision for Red Deer. The workshop will feature guest speakers including EFL Fellows. The workshop will include other activities that help participants better understand the opportunities and risks of energy transition for Red Deer, showcase existing local initiatives, and explore what near-term initiatives (existing and new) are most important and needed to become a more resilient community. This event will take place from 8:30 am - 5 pm.

ROADSHOW WORKSHOP #2 DETAILS

October TBD - Taking Stock & Action Planning

This workshop will be an opportunity for participants to come together to discuss how collaboration and action has been undertaken since Workshop #1. In light of this, learning will be shared and captured and participants will then have an opportunity to plan for the next round of action. This event will take place from 8:30 am - 5 pm. The second annual Renewable Energy Fair + Workshops will be held on Oct 26 at Red Deer College as additional opportunity to network, share information, and carry forward action with the rest of the community in Red Deer.

REGISTRATION OPTIONS

Ideally participants attend both days of Workshop #1 and the follow up Workshop #2 as the work does build upon the previous days. However, we understand that this can be a challenge to build into one's schedule, so please register for each of the days that you are able to attend.

Refreshments, snacks and lunch will be provided for all workshops. Space is limited, so register soon.
