Join me for this weekend to creating layered paintings using a variety of supplies including collage and translucent glazes and inks. Experiment with mixed media / abstract art:

o Making tissue papers with ink.

o Work in layers with collage on the canvas using a gel medium

o Use glazing gloss medium to create translucent layers

o The process of adding and subtracting

o Work with underpaintings, light, focal point and intuition to create something unique

o Adding stenciling

The process of adding and subtracting is a way to follow our intuitive voice to push beyond the first layer into the realm of the unknown. You may get something wonderful and completely unexpected.

Please note, we are going to use the time together to experiment with different techniques that enhance layering in our abstract art pieces. We will focus on ways to start, choosing colors, making decisions while in process and how to follow your own intuitive voice. Students are encouraged to bring an old canvas they can experiment on if there is time at the end of our second day.

Workshop Structure:

Includes hands on demonstration to encourage people to have familiarity with tools and color mixing. Projects build on one another to encourages participants play and to create artwork intuitively.

Each day will be approximately a 30-45 min warm-up where we get familiar with supplies, and then move on to the first part of our projects. Students will take home two mixed media paintings and discover new ways to continue a painting that they may have stashed in their closet😊

My workshops will be a good fit for you if:

- want more creativity in your life

- feel stuck in your artwork and are looking to change things up

- made art in the past but are not so sure how to restart

- a beginner or intermediate painter looking for inspiration and creative freedom

On a personal note: It has been my experience that painting with the process and experimentation in mind allows me to discover a freedom in painting that sometimes can get lost along the way. The discovery process opens me up to possibilities.

Classes are open to all levels.
