MAIN KEYNOTE SPEAKER:

SARAH LANDRY (@thebirdspapaya)

Sarah is a mom of 4 kids aged 3-18, divorced and remarried and now blended perfectly together. After getting exhausted by social media and body perfecting habits along the way, she decided to change the way she showed up in the world. Healing through her perfectionism, disordered eating, body shame and so much more, she now loves having powerful social media conversations around life and our experiences in it.

She is a body confidence advocate, speaker, writer, occasional model, and weekly podcast host and an ongoing student of life.


SPEAKER LINEUP:

ASHLEY FREEBORN: Co-Founder of Smash + Tess, Principle, CEO

Born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., Ashley graduated from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., with a BA in English, a BEd, and an MEd. She taught school for a decade before co-founding Smash + Tess with her mother in 2016.The idea for Smash + Tess rose out of Ashley's recognition for an unfilled niche in fashion—a void in the loungewear market. Deciding to fill that void with affordable, stylish, comfortable loungewear, she attended the summer fashion program at Conde Nast in London, UK.

As CEO, Ashley oversees everything from designing to financial planning to dreaming up fun and creative marketing campaigns. Under her direction, S+T has grown exponentially in revenue and transnationally in market share and public notoriety. It has grown famous for its celebrity collaborations with the likes of Hilary Duff, Paula Abdul, Jillian Harris, and Sarah Nicole Landry aka The Birds Papaya, and is best known for leading the Romper Revolution- a movement that was born out of clothing that celebrates femininity, strength, style, and comfort in women of all shapes and sizes. Ashley is also committed to giving back. S+T has spearheaded several charitable endeavors, raising tens of thousands of dollars to support organizations like Matriarch Movement, Mamas For Mamas, Marsha P. Johnson Institute and more.

In 2020, Ashley was named one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40, which recognizes the mostoutstanding leaders in the country. She also led Smash + Tess through exponential growth, landing the company on The Globe and Mail's Top Growth Companies for three years in a row. Ashley is a celebrated TedX presenter, touring North America to speak on topics including building a successful brand, e-commerce and D2C sales, authentic collaborations, and social media strategy.


JAM GAMBLE: Jahmeelah Gamble, affectionately known as “Jam”, is the ultimate #SlayerOfTheMic. Jam's remarkable journey from being encouraged to quiet her voice as a young girl to now inspiring a chorus of voices across the globe embodies the very essence of resilience and empowerment. Through her innovative Slay The Mic™ Program, Jam has transformed the art of public speaking into a tool for personal and professional growth, guiding individuals to become #FutureMicSlayers who unapologetically tap into their ultimate superpower: their voice.

Through corporate training, the Slay The Mic program, 1:1 Quick Slay sessions and countless events, Jam has helped over 800 voices learn how to #SlayTheMic.

SARAIN FOX:

Sarain is Anishinaabe from Batchawana First Nation, just outside of Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario. She is passionate about empowering Indigenous communities and amplifying their voices, especially those of the youth. She is a multifaceted artist and activist who comes from a long line of storytellers. Her mother and great aunt are the oral record keepers of the family. They have passed down ancient teachings from generations of knowledge-keepers and have raised her to be proud of her Indigenous roots. As a result, Sarain has become a powerful and vibrant voice for the Indigenous community.

She is a dancer, choreographer, stylist, activist, brand ambassador, television host and content producer. A storyteller at heart, Sarain has combined these various mediums to create a compelling social platform for amplifying the voices of her people. She uses her platform to celebrate the immense knowledge and talent of Indigenous people, designers and brands.

Kyla Faganely is motivated, passionate, and dedicated to health and fitness promotion.She holds a master’s degree in Exercise Science, Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology, a Bachelor of Education Degree, and a multitude of fitness certifications and qualifications. Kyla has worked and trained in the fitness industry for over twenty- five years and in a variety of countries and communities worldwide, including Australia, Europe, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Asia, the Caribbean and Costa Rica. In the course of her years of training and education, Kyla has worked with and trained under some of the fitness industry’s top professionals. Kyla's passion and dedication have made her a true champion in promoting a healthy lifestyle that is accessible to everyone. With an unwavering commitment to well-being, she has revolutionized the way people approach their health by breaking down barriers and making positive choices attainable for individuals from all walks of life. Kyla has empowered countless individuals to embark on transformative journeys towards improved physical and mental well-being. Whether through educational resources, personalized guidance, or her magnetic presence as a public speaker, Kyla's impact on individuals and communities is nothing short of extraordinary. Her inspiration to help others has led her to her newest avenue of wellness in the workplace. She leads a variety of health related workshops to companies across the globe. Kyla truly is an inspiration, on a local level as well as on an international level. Kyla is continuously seeking education for new knowledge to help her clients. She certifies fitness professionals in the industry and works with many health and fitness facilities as a continuing education provider. Kyla educates and trains all fitness levels, she also trains elite athletes and sports teams from all over the globe. She emphasizes the importance of mental strength, nutrition, happiness, and rest and recovery as part of her overall approach to wellness. Kyla believes that we should all strive to be athletes for life.


KAREN HOEKSTRA:

From side gig to CEO. K’pure has gone from hobby to international company and can be found in over 150 stores across Canada.

Before starting K'Pure Karen was a personal trainer and bootcamp instructor. She owned a small fitness stuido and after a few years started making self-care products to promote her studio. Those products ended up turning into her incredible brand K'Pure.

She formulated the handmade products in her Kitchenaid Mixer on her kitchen counter for a year before moving into a warehouse space and needing to hire employees. Today, K'Pure is in over 300 stores across Canada. K'Pure is a brand that creates products for the home, body and skincare using natural ingredients.
Karen is most proud of her ability to focus on her values, even if it means going against what the majority of our industry is doing. At K'Pure they refuse to make claims about anti-wrinkle and anti-aging, and remind women that getting older is our super power. She chooses to focus on living a healthy life and provide products that people can feel good about using on themselves and their entire family.
