🎤 About the Guest Speaker:

Lianna Mah, P.Eng., FEC, Vice President, Business Development, Associated Engineering

Lianna is passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion, and their benefits to fostering respectful and creative workplaces, innovative solutions, and positive outcomes. She has been an invited speaker and guest lecturer on topics such as diversity, inclusion, and leadership. She was a founding member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s former Division for Advancement of Women in Engineering and Geoscience (DAWEG) and served on committees for the Canadian Coalition of Women in Engineering, Science, Trades, and Technology (CCWESTT).

Lianna has been recognized for her contributions to promote diversity in the engineering industry. In 2016, Engineers Canada presented Lianna with the Award for the Support of Women in the Engineering Profession. This year, she received ACEC-BC’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award.


🎙️ About the Facilitators:

Chunpreet Sahota, M.Eng., P.Eng., PMO, Structural Engineer, WSP

Chunpreet Sahota is a Structural Engineer at WSP in the Buildings group and is currently the acting Director of People and Engagement for the BC Structural team. She has 15 years of experience in the engineering industry and has had the pleasure of working on a variety of projects including schools, cultural sites, transit and transportation, and government projects. Chunpreet was the inaugural winner of the ACEC-BC EDI Award for an Individual in 2021 and continues to be an active advocate at WSP and in the engineering community to curate spaces where all feel safe and welcome to bring their whole selves to everyday.


Leona Smith, PMP, Head of Discipline & Leading Project Manager, COWI

Leona Smith is a Leading Project Manager and Head of Discipline at COWI North America, managing the project and contract management group in Canada. After graduating with a materials engineering degree and working as an engineer in Ontario, she moved to British Columbia in 2011 and into project management in the BC consulting engineering industry. Leona is a former director of Women in Consulting Engineering Vancouver and continues to be involved with their mission to support and empower women in engineering.
