The IslamicFamily Global Stitches program invites community members of all skill levels to come together and learn the art of crochet. Through this series, participants will discover techniques from around the world, exploring crochet styles, patterns, and traditions that reflect diverse cultures. The sessions will be offered bilingually in English and Arabic.

Global Stitches fosters creativity, connection, and mindfulness, providing a relaxed space for learning, conversation, and building new skills with friends and neighbors. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced crocheter, join us to stitch, share, and connect through the universal language of yarn.

Your ticket includes all supplies needed to learn how to crochet along with 2 instructional sessions, which will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, and Saturday, February 15th, 2025 from 11 AM to 2 PM.

Cost

Tickets are available at two options: $50 for a regular ticket, or $100 if you’d like to purchase a ticket for yourself and cover the cost for someone else in our community. If paying for the sessions is not feasible at this time, please reach out to us via email at communications@islamicfamily.ca so that we can register you. Our goal is to make this experience accessible to all, so everyone can enjoy learning and connection, regardless of circumstances.

About the Instructor

Rihab Kachan holds a BBA in Management Information Systems and a Teaching Diploma from AUL University in Beirut, Lebanon. Growing up in a family of designers, she has combined her passion for creativity with teaching to build a fulfilling career. She offers freelance arts and crafts classes and graphic design services, specializing in label design, visual content for schools in multiple languages, and custom materials for businesses.

Rihab is excited to share the skills and insights she has gained to help you unlock your creative potential. Her goal is to inspire you to embrace creativity in meaningful ways, reminding you that art requires patience and dedication, but is worth the rewards. This course is not just about learning a new skill; it’s about discovering your creative strengths and incorporating them into your life.

Where can I park?

Kindly note that parking is not permitted in any of the marked stalls, or in the alley next to the building. Disability parking stalls are only accessible with a permit. Convenient alternatives include City and Grant MacEwan parking lots. Visit islamicfamily.ca/parking for more info.

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing, and socks. Our space is a shoe-free zone and racks are located outside the front door for shoe storage. Note: Please bring any visual aids that you may require with you (glasses, etc.) as the workshop involves working with small items.
