About this event
YENSA (Let’s Dance) GROUNDED IN WELLNESS workshops offer an inclusive space for our YENSA participants to nurture their emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Participants can release and simply be present in the moment through dance movements, focused breath work, and awareness of physical sensations.
AfrikCore with Debbie Nicholls-Skerritt
This January, YENSA Festival focuses on Wellness. During a time when many face the challenges of winter blues and seasonal depression, we are offering transformative sessions that will nourish both body and mind
AfrikCore is an interactive movement experience designed to AWAKEN, ACTIVATE & RELEASE the pelvic floor, hips, spine, and deep core muscles, while cultivating subtle nuances and textures inspired by the movements of the African & Caribbean Diaspora.
Embracing these areas of focus, AfrikCore liberates the subconscious & energetic body from shame and fear, creating an atmosphere for participants to discover and unlock sources of pain/ dysfunction in order to release themselves to an awakened state of being; a piece of material wrapped around the waist honors this perspective.
Infused with breathwork, pilates and yoga influences, AfrikCore embodies the spirit of celebrating our MOVEMENT MEDICINE as access to portals of deep healing, body wisdom, mental wellness support, moving stagnant energy and intimate spiritual connection.
AfrikCore classes are modified for specialized populations. This workshop is open to everyone!
