Get ready to glide into winter at YZD with free outdoor ice skating! Whether you’re enjoying a unique date night, learning to skate, or seeking weekend fun for the kids, there's something for everyone.

Join us for weekend skating featuring live DJs on Fridays, free lessons on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and drop-in arts classes at the YZD Experience Centre. Experience our 4,500 square foot refrigerated rink, surrounded by vibrant art installations at the YZD Plaza. Now in its third year, this beloved event includes affordable skate rentals, indoor arts programming, and fun activities for all ages.

No skates or helmet? No problem! Rentals are just $5 for adults and free for kids under 12.

In collaboration with JustBGraphic and supported by VIBE FM, enjoy Friday DJ Skate Nights under a musical light show and indoor youth programming.

Where is the event located and is there parking available on-site?

Parking is available on-site. The entrance for cars and pedestrians is located at 34 Hanover Road.

How do I get there by transit?

From Wilson Station, take the 96 or 165 bus to Garratt Blvd. and walk north 750m to the skating rink. Alternatively, from Wilson Station, take the 184 bus to Gilley Road at Garratt Blvd. and walk north 260m to the skating rink.

Do I need to bring anything to participate?

Skates are available to rent for $5, while supplies last. To avoid the potential wait, we recommend bringing your own skates and helmets.

What do I wear to public skating?

Children aged 12 and under must wear helmets. A limited number of helmets are available for rent, so please bring your own if possible. Remember to dress warmly, as the rink is outdoors.

Are there skates available to rent?

Yes, skate rentals are available for $5 each and free to 12 and under. POS is available onsite for payment

Are there helmets available to rent?

A limited amount of helmets will be available for rent, while supplies last. Please note that children under the age of 12 are required to wear a CSA-approved helmet while on the ice, and must be supervised by an adult.

Will there be food?

Hot drinks and light snacks for purchase available on-site.

Will there be washrooms?

Yes, washrooms will be available on-site.

Will there be lockers available for rent?

Lockers will be available on-site on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that we will not be responsible for any lost items.

Is skate sharpening available on-site?

Unfortunately, there is no skate sharpening services available on-site.

How does the rink stay frozen even when the weather isn’t below zero?

Our rink uses a refrigerated chiller system that keeps the ice frozen and in optimal condition regardless of outdoor temperatures. This means you can enjoy skating even when Mother Nature doesn’t provide freezing weather.

How do you maintain the ice quality during high usage times?

The rink is maintained regularly throughout the day with resurfacing equipment and by monitoring the chiller system to ensure optimal ice conditions, even during peak usage.

How long does it typically take to resolve rink maintenance issues?

The time to resolve maintenance issues varies depending on the nature of the problem. Our team prioritizes safety and efficiency, working as quickly as possible to restore rink operations while ensuring a safe environment.

How can I find updates about rink conditions or closures?

For the latest updates on rink conditions, closures, or schedule changes, please check our social media channel (@YZDtoronto on Instagram) or your email if you’ve registered. We ensure all updates are communicated promptly to keep you informed.

Can the rink operate during rain or snow?

Yes, the rink can operate during light rain or snow. However, in severe weather conditions, such as heavy rain or storms, the rink may close for safety reasons. Updates will be shared on social media and via email for registered guests.
