Do I get a receipt?

Yes, you will receive a receipt for your course tuition at the end of the course.

Do I need to pack a lunch?

No. There is a food court on the main floor of the hospital along with Second Cup at the University street entrance. You can also bring your lunch as there is a refrigerator available to keep lunches cold.

What should I wear?

You will be actively trying to resuscitate our simulated patients. Comfortable clothing is a must. Scrub suits are not recommended but acceptable. The SimSinai Centre is a scent-free workplace and we ask that all participants refrain from wearing any cologne or perfume.

Where should I park?

There are two paid parking lots behind the hospital on Murray Street. Be careful to keep all valuables out of sight to deter thefts

I'm taking the subway. Where should I get off the train?

The hospital is located between Queen's Park and St. Patrick stations. Either station is a close walk to the hospital.

What happens if I fail the course?

Our instructors and course directors attempt to identify any course participants who are experiencing difficulty as early as possible. Remedial efforts will be made during the course but passing the course is NOT guaranteed.

How do I improve my success in the course?

Read the training manual. See this link https://cpr.heartandstroke.ca/s/acls on the training portal for Videos & Resources. This course is designed for healthcare providers who have working experience in the areas of ER, ICU, OR and Step Down units as well as experienced Paramedics and RT's.

What happens if I cancel my registration, change my course date or don't show up for the course?

Your are responsible for the Eventbrite fee that is not refundable. Please review our cancellation policy on our SimSinai Centre website.

About this event

The ACLS Renewal Proivder 1-day is designed to help health care providers to improve and update the necessary skills to provide evidence-based care to patients in cardiac arrest or other life-threatening situations. This course reinforces use of appropriate basic life support and automated external defibrillation, and then extends skills to advanced interventions.


Attendees MUST have a HEART and STROKE ID NUMBER to complete your course registration. You MUST have an ACTIVE CURRENT HEART AND STROKE BLS CERTIFICATE and ACLS CERTIFICATE

Note: Prerequisites are a current Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS ) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificates and an ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment Certificate (passing score = 70%)


If your BLS certification (current H&S certification is a mandatory prerequisite for the ACLS course) is out of date you may sign up for the BLENDED BLS course . This option requires learners to complete the online at home BLS module (please print your completed certificate) and to arrive 1 hour earlier prior to the start of the ACLS course to complete your BLS certification. The cost of the extended training is $80 and available as an add-on option prior to checkout.

Topics include:

  • Safe operation of defibrillator/pacing devices.
  • Use of airway/respiratory equipment (oral/nasal airways, laryngeal mask airways, combitubes, bag/valve/mask devices).
  • Management of cardiac arrest (VF/VT/PEA/asystole).
  • Management of stable and unstable tachyarrythmias.
  • Management of bradycardias.
  • Approach to unstable coronary syndrome/myocardial infarction Initial management of acute stroke.
  • Approach to patient with hypotension/shock.
  • Crisis management principles (leadership, communication, situational awareness).
