This panel discussion features Professor Andy Hira, Matthew Klippenstein, George Benson, and Professor Andrew S. Wright.

In his paper presentation, Dr. Andy Hira discusses the future of hydrogen as an emerging technology and its potential when it comes to industrial usage, and the scope research surrounding it particulary when it comes to green energy sources.

About the speakers:

Matthew Klippenstein’s engineering career has spanned hydrogen, wind energy, EVs and EV infrastructure. He has worked in the private sector and at non-profits, on both the cost dimension and the consent dimension of technology. Most recently he was with the Canadian Hydrogen Association. He has written for National Observer and provided commentary for local and nationally syndicated radio, CBC and Radio-Canada, NPR and BBC.

George P.R. Benson is a globally recognised leader on economic development, cities, and climate action. He has worked across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors and currently leads the Zero Emissions Innovation Centre (ZEIC)’s economic development team. George’s team supports businesses, especially small ones, in finding profitable ways to join or expand the zero-carbon economy. Outside of ZEIC, George has previously been involved with the Canadian and American urban planning associations, work with the World Economic Forum, and as a ministerial advisor on BC’s Climate Solutions Council.

Andrew S. Wright is a CERG founding member, former CTO of Datum Telegraphic Inc., founder of the Willow Grove Foundation, and adjunct professor at the SFU School of Sustainable Energy Engineering.
