Course Overview

Procurement/ project management professionals involved in supply chain activities make decisions and inherit various risks while executing procurement projects involving a large amount of dollars. What are the risks? How can you provide value-added services to your organization by effectively mitigating procurement risks? How can you achieve cost-savings while following fair and transparent procurement process?

Procurement risks are increasing in value, size, scope, volume, complexity and must meet stringent policies, rules, regulations and trade agreements. This workshop is developed to identify potential risks and provide practical tools and strategies to mitigate those risks by learning how to identify, access, avoid, transfer risk.

This workshop will show you how to achieve your targets and provide you with a comprehensive understanding of different types of risks at each stage of the procurement process. It will provide you with risk mitigation strategies, case studies, checklists and best practices.

About the Instructor

Umesh Kalia, , CSCMP, CPPO, CPPB, C.P.M., NIGP-CPP, CMM III, has over 23 years of procurement & contract management experience both within the private sector and the public sector within the Provincial, Regional and Municipal government levels and Broader Public Sector. Umesh has led several complex and high-value procurement projects and managed contracts.

Umesh is a Mechanical Engineering graduate, Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, Western University, Master’s Certificate in Municipal Leadership, Schulich School of Business, and a Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP), Certified Procurement Professional (NIGP-CPP), Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), and Certified Municipal Manager (CMM III) designations holder. Umesh has completed Construction Law and Procurement Law programs from the Osgoode Hall Law School. Umesh has trained a wide variety of professionals in Contract Management, Supplier Relations, Vendor Performance Management, Procurement Risk Management, Procurement Policy Interpretations, Effective Negotiation, Writing Scope of Work and Statement of Work, Developing and Managing the Request for Proposals.

Cancellation by course participant:

A full refund will be provided to registrants who provide a minimum of two(2) business days cancellation notice prior to the start of the course. The course participant will also have the option of transferring their ticket to a different course start date, depending on availability.

Cancellation by Instructor:

Decisions on course cancellations will be made prior to the course start date, early registration is recommended. If you register for a course that is cancelled by the instructor, you will receive a full refund.
