Can you imagine playing hockey during wartime?

Our brave Canadian soldiers played hockey on the frozen ‘Imjin’ River whenever they were given time away from their front-line duties.

The Imjin Hockey Classic, an annual commemoration of that moment, was inaugurated in 2013 on the Rideau Canal with a game between the Canadian Armed Forces and Parliamentarian teams.

Now we are pleased to hold a re-enactment of these historic hockey matches in cooperation with the Canadian Army! The event will take place at Bell Sensplex on Saturday, October 5 at 3:00 PM.

Two Regiments, PPCLI and R22eR, will go head-to-head with each other – just as they would have done during the Korean War! In particular, there will be a friendly match with the RCR and Defence Attaché teams.

If you love hockey and have a passion for cheering on our Canadian military hockey teams, we invite you to join us at the game!

We welcome you to come out with your family and friends for this meaningful event. Not only is it a great opportunity to honour our Korean War veterans, but it’s also a wonderful experience for our young Canadians to have fun while learning about the importance of Canadian’s contribution to the Korean War.
