Intermediate Field Trip: Ocean Conservation & Digital Art

Join Terranaut Club to learn about ocean conservation and how to create ocean-inspired digital art and music through coding! This HRM PD day program will introduce participants to the importance of ocean conservation and marine protected areas by exploring the “Ocean, Freshwater, and Us” giant floor map of Canada followed by an afternoon of learning how to use code to create digital ocean-inspired art and music. No prior knowledge is needed!

- Thursday, December 5 (HRM PD Day)
- 10:00 am - 3:30 pm
- For girls and under-represented genders ("girls+") ages 12-15
- Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS
- Pay-what-you-can, full cost is $50/participant
Activities Include:
- Exploring the “Ocean, Freshwater, and Us” giant floor map of Canada to learn about the importance of marine protected areas
- Learning about ocean conservation and what you can do to help
- Creating ocean-inspired digital art and music through coding
- Learning about how data science is used in marine research and conservation
Other Information:
Participants should come prepared with multiple snacks and a lunch, water bottle, comfortable shoes, a backpack, and weather appropriate clothes.
Unlike our summer programs, there is no nomination process for workshops. Registration is first come, first served, and can be completed on this page. Though the cost of this program is $50 per participant, it is pay-what-you-can and your donation must be made upon registering.
