As the world races towards ubiquitous 5G access, the Governments of Canada, Ontario and Quebec have partnered with some of the world’s leading tech corporations to create the Evolution of Networked Services through a Corridor in Quebec and Ontario for Research and Innovation program (ENCQOR 5G). This program is delivered by Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) in Ontario.
MaRS houses one of five ENCQOR testbeds (the others spread across Ontario and Quebec). These represent Canada’s first open access, pre-commercial 5G infrastructure. They allows small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and academia to develop and demonstrate new products and services in a collaborative environment. Among many benefits, eligible SMEs receive:
- up to $50,000 in funding for new product demonstration projects;
- collaboration opportunities with corporate partners;
- physical workspace at MaRS;
- connections to prospective talent (post-secondary and post-graduate students); and
- MaRS business support services to secure capital, grow customer bases and attract talent.
This Nov. 5, you’re invited to Ryerson University to learn more about ENCQOR 5G’s program benefits and offerings. You’ll hear from our corporate partners Ericsson and Ciena, a representative from OCE, and you’ll have a chance to connect with other organizations developing new tech through 5G.
